French grand mothers’ beauty tricks

Beauty recipes of yesteryear are ecological, simple, effective, natural and less costly, according to Marie Claire France magazine. These are tricks from french grandmothers, as there are many things elders can teach us from culinary to litterature. The beauty tips consist in the use of organic products such as oil, flowers, and fruits. Marie Claire France spilled the secrets, and the following are few of my favourites.

I. Lavender floral lotion for a neat and firm skin

What you need: spring water (200 ml) & 1 handful of dried lavender.

Boil water, add the lavender flowers into it, and let them infuse in 5 to 10 minutes. Using a skimmer, filter the infusion. Pour it into a bottle. Soak a cotton in this floral water, apply it on your skin by compressing. This lotion can be conserved in the refrigerator for 10 days.

The benefits: the lavender floral lotion softens and strengthens skin. Thank’s to its antiseptic and calming properties, it also balances combination skin. The lavender scents give the impression that you’re in the Province. A delight.

II. Floral and citrus vinegar, for a soft skin and a shiny hair.

What you need: 2 handfuls of fresh aromatic plants of your choice: sage, rosemary, thyme, rose petals; slices of lemon, orange, or grapefruit.

Boil 1 litre of soft vinegar (cider or honey vinegar). Add the plants and citruses, and remove from the fire. Pour it all into a jar, let it macerate for 15 days, protected from light. Then filter it and put it into a bottle.

The benefits: The floral and citrus vinegar has multiple uses. Added in the bathtub water, it smoothes skin. In shampoo rincing water, it makes shiny hair. Used as a lotion, it tightens pores, and thank’s to the antiseptic virtues it soothes sunburns and insect bites. A must have.

III. Legs softening oil

What you need:

-2 spoonful of aloe vera gel

-3 drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil

-1 teaspoon of evening primrose oil

Pour the aloe vera gel in a bowl, and dilute the lavender or tea tree essential oil. Then add the evening primrose oil. Mix and coat your legs with this mixture.

The benefits: The evening primrose, rich in omega 3, regeneratesand softens skin. As for the aloe vera, it moisturizes. The result: a treasure of creaminess. Legs damaged by hair removal beautify.
